Different Art Centre an Exemplary Model, Says chief minister
Thiruvananthapuram: The comprehensive platform to engage and nurture the diverse talents of mentally challenged children, Different Art Centre at KINFRA Film and Video Park in Thiruvananthapuram, was recently inaugurated by Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala Chief Minister, by symbolically switching on a motorized wheelchair.
Delivering the inaugural speech, the Chief Minister said art therapy will help bring about significant changes in differently abled children. “Different Art Centre is indeed a proud initiative of the Kerala Government in building a differently abled-friendly State,” he said.
K K Shailaja, Minister for Social Justice, presided over the function.
Following the inauguration, differently abled child artists of Different Art Centre performed before the attendees at the event. The Different Art Centre is an umbrella project designed with the support of Kerala Social Security Mission, Government of Kerala, with an aim to engage and encourage the talents among differently abled children. The project intends to nurture children suffering from conditions like autism and cerebral palsy, and yet showing talents in various fields like music, dance and painting.
Different Thought Centre, a training centre modelled on an aeroplane to raise awareness about early autistic symptoms in children and prenatal care, was launched by P Sreeramakrishnan, the Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly.
