KASE Accreditation for Courses in Tourism and Hospitality Sector
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Academy of Skills Excellence (KASE), the skill development mission of Kerala Government under the Department of Labour & Skills, has accredited three courses of Atheos Institute of Skill Excellence (AISE) in tourism and hospitality sector. T P Ramakrishnan, State Minister for Labour and Skills, formally handed over the accreditation certificate to Rajesh C P, MD, Atheos at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram the other day.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramakrishnan said the State should mould skilled workers in the tourism sector. "Skilled labourers were essential for the tourism sector which has been providing a major share of Kerala’s GDP. The Government was looking for quality service. Only those institutions which had been efficient enough to provide skilled training were given accreditation. In case any such institution is found wanting in providing skill training, the accreditation would be withdrawn," he said. M Vijayakumar, Former Kerala Speaker & Minister and Chairman, KTDC, said the dearth of skilled workforce excellence is also affecting KTDC. He exuded confidence that training imparted by institutes like Atheos would help the State achieve further growth in the tourism sector. Sandeep Chabbra, National Head (training), Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council, Philip Thomas, Director, Atheos Educational Initiatives Pvt. Ltd., Sasidharan Nair, Chairman, ODEPC and K Biju IAS, Labour Commissioner and MD, KASE also spoke.
AISE, based in Bengaluru, has set up its training campus in Palakkad. Initially, the centre will run three courses - Housekepping Attendant, Food & Beverage Steward and Kitchen Steward. The entire training programme is aligned to National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) announced by the Union Government which allows the participant to acquire additional skills during the course of time based on his work experience. AISE is also affiliated training partner of Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council functioning under National Skill Development Corporation under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
As part of the course, candidates need to complete one year internship under Atheos in its client location and the participant will be paid internship under Atheos in its client location and the participant will be paid internship along with free accommodation, food, local travel conveyance and uniform. Successful candidates will be absorbed by the company with industry standard salary packages.
