Kochi: Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy IAS, took over as Chairman, Coconut Development Board (CDB) on August 8. He has earlier held several crucial posts including that of Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Kerala; District Collector of Thrissur, Kottayam, Idukki, Kasargod and Pathanamthitta; Director of Fisheries and of Collegiate Education; Managing Director of Marketing Federation and Commissioner of Civil Supplies Department. Recently, he was the International Observer for the Zimbabwe General Election.
Raju Narayana Swamy is a 1991 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer who has taken his graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He was also awarded a doctorate degree by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He holds a PG Diploma in IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) from National Law School, Bengaluru and a Professional Diploma in Public Procurement from World Bank.
The new CDB Chairman has written 28 books of different genres. He won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award for a travelogue, ‘Santhimantram Muzhangunna Thazvarayil.’ He has also won the Bhima Gold Medal and Kunhunni Award (both for children’s literature) and the prestigious Homi Bhabha Fellowship (in Cyber Law).
