It’s Time to Give Malabar Region its Rightful Due
As we start a new financial year, here is wishing every enterprise in Kerala all the very best for achieving business goals, be it new product initiatives, sales targets, customer satisfaction, employee delight, social responsibility, corporate governance or all of it.
The last financial year was a misery filled one thanks to the lingering after effects of demonetisation and the ill-planned implementation of the GST. This FY, experts say, will witness market recovery from Q2 onwards.
At Destination Kerala we are earmarking FY 2018-19 as the Year of Malabar. Kerala’s northern region has hitherto been ignored or denied the rightful place and recognition it deserves, be it as a business district or even tourist destination, in spite of its stellar contributions to the industry and great products with immense tourism potential.
Efforts like the Greater Malabar Initiative and Malabar Development Council, collectives of business leaders from the region, are trying their best to focus the spotlight on Malabar and ensure that the region gets its fair due.
This FY we hope to bring you a lion’s share of our exclusive content, including cover stories and special features, from Malabar. For the next 12 months we will be celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit and business successes of Malabar in all its glory and splendour. This is our humble tribute to a region, its people and businesses who continue to contribute immensely to Kerala’s economy with their smart business acumen, sincere hard work, warm camaraderie and die-hard compassion. There is a lot to learn from our business leaders in Malabar – ideas, approach and practices worth emulating for sustained business success.
On the cover this April is the duo behind the travel trade powerhouse Alhind Group – Valsaraj P V and T Muhammed Haris. In two-and-a-half decades, they have built a mega successful enterprise spread across the world employing over 1000 professionals and clocking a turnover of Rs. 4000 crore. Their success is emblematic of the entrepreneurial mettle and long-term vision of the Malabar clan.
Let’s honour the maestros of Malabar!
