Judgment is the Key to Success, Says Anand Jayaraman
Kochi: Judgment is the key to success! This is my most important learning from spending 20 years in a global business, said Anand Jayaraman, Vice President, Procter & Gamble, Switzerland at an evening lecture organised by the Kerala Management Association (KMA) on the topic ‘Lessons from 20 years in a Global Business’ here the other day.
He said, “We are all very poor in judging what we know. It is true everywhere that an ability to introspect and see how well we know the answer to a question is the very basis of judgment.’’ He said that people obliged to answer in a way that is consistent with our understanding of our own knowledge. We are terrible judges of our own judgment. There is a lot of research done about the topic and it is said that the feeling of certainty has very little to do with actually being certain.
Anand further explained on the correct way in which judgment should be made. Since reality is very different from expectation there is a need to make the right decision at the right time, he said.
The evening also saw Anand Jayaraman along with Jibu Paul, Chairman National Management Convention, officially release the theme concept of the upcoming Management Convention scheduled to be held on March 7 and 8.
In the event presided by Dinesh P Thampi, President, KMA, C S Kartha, Chairman, Evening Lectures, welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. V George Antony, Honorary Secretary, KMA proposed a vote of thanks.
