KMA Presents Annual Awards; Diamond Jubilee Fete Begins
Kochi: On 23 June, Kerala Management Association (KMA) held its Annual Awards night at the Le Meridien Kochi. KMA’s year-long Diamond Jubilee (60 years) celebrations were also inaugurated on the occasion. Paul Antony IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, performed the honours. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the strengths of the State’s new draft industrial policy and informed that the government will soon take steps to establish an online building plan verification platform for transparent and speedy approval of building plans.
KMA is planning to organise a number of events, including seminars and conclaves addressed by eminent speakers and personalities for management professionals and students throughout the year as part of the celebrations. Management Students Olympiad and Shaping Young Minds (SYM) programme jointly organised with All India Management Association (AIMA) has already been scheduled. A coffee table book narrating six decades of KMA is also being planned as part of the events.
The IT Leadership Award was presented to K Nandakumar, Founder and CEO, SunTec Business Solutions. Elias George (IAS Retd.), MD, Kochi Metro Rail Limited was selected for the Management Leadership Award. However, Elias could not make it to the event due to prior official commitments. KMA will present the award to him later.
The other winners include De Paul School of Management (Best Business Plan); Robin C Mathew, Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies (Best Management Student); Idea Cellular (Young Managers Contest - Second Runner Up); Symega Savoury (Young Managers Contest - First Runner Up); Cognizant (Young Managers Contest - Winner); UAE Exchange (Best In-house Magazine); Delphi (Best Manufacturing Innovation); FISAT (Green Initiative - Special Jury Award); BPCL Kochi Refinery (Green Initiative - Winner); Muthoot Finance (Best CSR Initiative - Special Jury Award); Cochin Shipyard Limited (Best CSR Initiative - Winner); South Indian Bank (Most Innovative HR Initiative - Special Jury Award); and Federal Bank (Most Innovative HR Initiative - Winner). KMA NASSCOM IT Awards were presented to ProdNXT Technologies (IT Startup of the Year - Special Jury Award) and Extravelmoney Technosol (IT Startup of the Year - Winner); V Guard (Best Transformation using Digital Technologies); and Cochin International Airport Limited (Best Innovator).
Robin Joy A, Senior GM and CIO, V Guard Industries was adjudged Manager of the Year. Mathew Urumbath President, KMA delivered the presidential address and Ambassador Dr. Deepak Vohra the keynote address. Jibu Paul, Chairman, KMA Annual Awards 2017; Prasad K Panicker, Immediate Past President & Chairman, KMA Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and Madhav Chandran, Honorary Secretary, KMA, also spoke at the event.
