Offering The Unparalleled Ashtavaidya Healing Touch
Kochi: Vaidyaratnam, a brand synonymous with authentic Ayurveda, belongs to the family of Ashtavaidyas which adheres to centuries-old traditions and uses expertise it inherited through generations in its selfless service to humanity. Vaidyaratnam Nursing Home, set up in 1951 at a scenic village near Ollur in Thrissur district of Kerala, has over the years grown into a full-fledged Ayurveda hospital.
The Vaidyaratnam Group has banked on its centuries-old legacy and expertise in Ayurveda practice to evolve into a stellar presence in the field
The present structure of the hospital was built in 2001 and another block commemorating its founder, Padma Shri Ashtavaidyan E T Neelakandan Mooss, was opened in 2010. Vaidyaratnam Hospital has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), Government of India for its excellence in ayurvedic treatments. It has also been awarded the Green Leaf Certification by the State Tourism Department, in addition to the award for the ‘Best Hospital’ by Ayurveda Hopital Management Association (AHMA) in 2017.
The Healing Touch of Ashtavaidyas
Vaidyaratnam has expertise in treatment modalities of various joint disorders like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis, neurological disorders like Parkinsons and stroke, gynaecological disorders, infertility and lifestyle disorders. All the treatments are based on Ashtavaidya tradition, which addresses the root cause of diseases, rather than treat the symptoms alone. The panchakarma treatment protocol lasting 16 to 28 days has been followed at the hospital. Vaidyaratnam stands out among the Ayurveda institutions because of its refusal to pursue pre-determined treatment packages. In addition to classical panchakarma treatments, Keraleeya treatments like Pizhichil, Kizhi, Shashtika Pindaswedam, Pathraswedam etc. are performed under the direction of Ashtavaidyas. Oordhwanga (above neck) treatments like Sirovasthi, Thailadhara, Thakradhara, Ksheeradhara etc. are done in the evening hours. All treatments are conducted as per the requirement of the patient.
A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity
Though Eledath Thaikkattu Mooss, a family belonging to the Ashtavaidya tradition which was instrumental in the propagation of Ayurveda, has acquired treatment skills traditionally, they have made this hospital as an institution that provides all modern facilities to the in-patients. Facilities like different types of rooms, including suites, cottages and general wards are available for accommodating 100 patients at a time. As part of providing holistic and better treatment, the hospital has made arrangements for yoga and physiotherapy. It also has a referral library. Services of doctors practising English medicine too are available in case of any emergency. Special diets are prescribed to the patients depending on their condition.
Vaidyaratnam has three medicine manufacturing units apart from treatment centres in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kozhikode, an Ayurveda college, Ayurveda museum, Ayurveda charitable hospital affiliated to Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Foundation and a research and development wing where the quality of each product is ensured by a state-of-the-art laboratory, under it. Vaidyaratnam also has 1500 outlets within the country and outside.
The Vaidyaratnam Group is led by Padma Bhushan Ashtavaidyan E T Narayanan Mooss, Ashtavaidyan E T Neelakandan Mooss and Ashtavaidyan E T Parameswaran Mooss.
