Thiruvananthapuram: For providing high quality healthcare at low cost, particularly to poorer sections of society, Central Government PSU HLL Lifecare is launching OP clinics at Hindlabs Diagnostics Centre and Specialty Clinic, opposite Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
Several super specialty OP services will come under one umbrella for the first time in the public sector in the capital city.
Located at the TRIDA Sopanam complex, the OP clinics will operate in two shifts from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.
The super specialty venture has the top names in the General Medicine, Diabetology, ENT, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Paediatrics, and Orthopaedic streams.
Dr. Ramdas Pisharody, former Medical College Principal and Head of Nephrology Department; Dr. Selvin former head of Gastroenterology Department, Medical College Hospital and Dr. Dinesh Prabhu, the State Health Department’s first Diabetics clinic head and chief physician are some of the well-known names working at the new Hindlabs centre.
Hindlabs’s 24-hour laboratory services are made available at 30-60 per cent lower rates compared to private labs.
While private labs charge between Rs. 45-80 for cholesterol tests, here it is only Rs. 31; blood sugar tests at Rs. 15 are nearly half the rate of private lab tests, lipid profile and also liver function test each costs Rs. 229 as against Rs. 320-440 in private labs, thyroid hormone profile test is Rs. 210 while other labs bill it at Rs. 300-500, HCV RNA_PCR quantitative test is Rs. 2,530, while it cost between Rs. 3,700- 6,700 and ultrasound scan is done for Rs. 400, as against Rs 650-700 in private labs.
Senior citizen health check-up, general health check-up and child health check-up examination packages are also available.
Lab results are made available online or through SMS. Lab facilities include X-Ray, ECG, Echo Cardiograph, PFD, Endoscopy, DMD, Ultrasound scan and Halter. Pharmacy facilities are also available. There is also a home blood collection facility within a five km area of the Medical College premises.
