Thiruvananthapuram: DEFTRONICS 2017, the international conference dedicated to promote the Indian Aerospace, Defence and Internal Security domains organised by India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) in Hyderabad, witnessed Kerala PSUs hard selling the investment opportunities as well as infrastructure facilities in the State. Kerala was the Partner State for DEFTRONICS 2017, which focussed on the theme, ‘Accelerating Self-reliance in Aerospace, Defence and Internal Security.’
A high-level delegation from Kerala comprising Wg. Cdr. K A Santhosh Kumar, MD, KINFRA; V R Balu, Manager, Business Development & Marketing, KINFRA; T R Hemalatha, MD, KELTRON; Col. Shaji M Varghese, MD, Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co. Pvt. Ltd. (KEL) and M K Sasikumar, MD, Steel and Industrial Forgings Ltd. (SIFL) attended the event.
In his presentation ‘Defence Manufacturing: Kerala – Overview & Opportunities’, KINFRA MD Santhosh Kumar highlighted the infrastructure facilities coming up at KINFRA Defence Park and KINFRA Electronics Manufacturing Cluster. The MD also touched upon the opportunities for private sector companies in collaborating with experienced State PSUs. The possibility of setting up a common support facility centre for manufacturing units under the aerospace industry that cater to VSSC was also discussed.
Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT visited the Kerala Pavilion. The team held talks with major participants at DEFTRONICS 2017, including MosChip Semiconductor Technology, Hyderabad; Texas Instruments, Bengaluru; Kenra Technologies, Secunderabad; Lekha Wireless Solutions, Bengaluru; Smartrin Technology Labs, Hyderabad; Manjeera Digital Systems, Hyderabad; Flanders Investment & Trade, Bengaluru and Leaptech Corporation, Bengaluru. N Sivasubramaniam, Project Director, Prithvi & Dhanush and Naval Anti-Ship Missiles, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), visited the Kerala Pavilion. KINFRA officials said the senior scientist also evinced keen interest in associating with Kerala-based entrepreneurs having capabilities in the aerospace and defence sector.
